CORRECTION: "No Kings" protest is scheduled for March 28th. (The Smile: 3/13)

Third "No Kings" protest is coming March 28th, new bill would protect whistleblowers, Gen Z is taking on Trump, and more!

Hi friend,

The email I sent earlier mentioned that the third nationwide “No Kings” protest was scheduled for this weekend, rather than March 28th.

I apologize for the error, but I hope you’ll take this as an extra opportunity to find the event nearest to you and make plans to attend.

Thanks for your understanding and for all that you do,

Emily from The Smile

Hi friend,

Happy Friday! Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib has introduced a new bill that would protect the brave whistleblowers and journalists who reveal government wrongdoing. Named after Daniel Ellsberg, the military analyst who exposed U.S. officials’ deception about the Vietnam War, the bill is already gaining support with veterans, former intelligence officers, and civil rights advocates.

There’s more momentum today: The third nationwide “No Kings” protest is expected to break records this month, Democrats are holding the Pentagon accountable for attacks on an Iranian school, the ballpark where Jackie Robinson first played is getting a major renovation, and Gen Z is taking on Trump in a big way.

Let’s dive into the good news! 💛

Today’s user-submitted photo comes from Renee S., of Greensboro, S.C., who shared this photo of her son Nils with his Bichon Frise, Beauregard. She says, “Big hair runs in our family!” If you want the chance to have your photo featured, reply to this email 😄

Thank you for reading, and we hope these articles shine a light on your day.

In solidarity,
