Grassroots Power: 300,000 Signatures for Fair Maps

In case you missed it, Missourians just delivered a huge grassroots victory for fair representation and democracy. Organizers submitted more than 300,000 signatures — nearly triple what was required — to block the state’s gerrymandered congressional map and force a statewide referendum next year.

The Republican-drawn map, part of Donald Trump’s broader effort to tilt districts nationwide, would have wiped out Kansas City’s Democratic seat. But voters across Missouri refused to let politicians rig the system. Volunteers worked at lightning speed to collect signatures in a narrow legal window, sending an unmistakable message: voters should choose their leaders, not the other way around.
