ICYMI — A Major Court Win Just Blocked Texas’s Gerrymandering

In case you missed it, a federal court just delivered a major win for democracy in Texas. Judges blocked the state’s new 2025 congressional maps — ruling they were likely racially gerrymandered and cannot be used in next year’s elections.

Under pressure from Donald Trump, Texas lawmakers redrew districts to add five GOP-leaning seats by targeting majority–non-white “coalition districts.” The court saw through it. Now Texas must revert to its fairer 2021 maps, protecting the voting power of Black, Latino, and Asian American communities.

This victory was made possible by groups like LULAC and the families who stood up and said no to discrimination at the ballot box.
