ICYMI: Delaware Protects Absentee Voters

A Delaware court has rejected a challenge to the state’s permanent absentee voting system, preserving an option used by eligible voters who may be unable to cast their ballots in person, including people with disabilities, military members, and Americans living overseas.

State Senate Minority Leader Gerald Hocker and state Senate candidate Steven Washington challenged the law, arguing that allowing voters to remain on the permanent absentee list violated the Delaware Constitution.

The ruling leaves Delaware’s permanent absentee voting system in place ahead of the 2026 general election and preserves the existing process for eligible voters who rely on absentee ballots.
