ICYMI: DNC Challenges Taxpayer-Funded Pro-Trump Ads

The Democratic National Committee has filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration over a taxpayer-funded advertising campaign portraying President Trump favorably. The DNC argues that the ads violate federal laws restricting the use of public funds for unauthorized propaganda and campaign-style advertising. According to NBC News, a $20 million contract was awarded for the campaign, with at least $10 million reportedly spent airing the ads.

Following bipartisan criticism, Trump announced that he and his PAC would cover the cost of the ads moving forward, but questions remain about whether taxpayers will be reimbursed for money already spent. The DNC is now asking a federal judge to rule that the spending was unlawful and prevent similar uses of taxpayer funds in the future.
