ICYMI: Illinois Erases $1.4 Billion in Medical Debt!

Illinois is delivering life-changing financial relief to hundreds of thousands of residents! Governor JB Pritzker announced that the state's Medical Debt Relief Program has eliminated more than $1.4 billion in medical debt for approximately 694,000 people. The program has erased an average of $1,200 in debt per affected resident, helping families recover from the financial burden of unexpected illnesses and medical emergencies.

Building on efforts led by Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle, Illinois and Cook County have now eliminated a combined $2.4 billion in medical debt for roughly 1.5 million residents. Even better, eligible residents don't have to apply for relief, and both leaders have committed to continuing funding for these programs!
