ICYMI: Thank Senate Democrats for defending our freedom to vote

In case you missed it, Senate Democrats are standing strong to protect one of our most fundamental freedoms: the right to vote.

They are opposing the SAVE Act, a bill backed by Donald Trump and House Republicans that could make it much harder for millions of Americans to cast a ballot. And it appears likely Democrats will win if they keep fighting.

The proposal would require documentary proof of citizenship to register or update voter registration. But millions of eligible voters don’t have easy access to documents like passports or birth certificates. Married women who changed their names, seniors, students, and rural voters could all face new barriers just to participate in our democracy.

At a time when voting rights are under attack, standing up for fair elections matters.
