The Smile: 10/16

Big fundraising records for Democrats, Trump's approval rating hits a low, and more!

October 16, 2026

Hi friend,

Happy Friday! Nine former FBI employees are fighting back after being fired for their roles in the investigation into President Trump's handling of classified documents at Mar-a-Lago. The employees have filed a federal lawsuit alleging that they were dismissed as political retaliation for simply doing their jobs, without any investigation, notice, or opportunity to defend themselves.

There's even more good news today: A federal judge has dismissed the Trump administration's challenge to New York City's sanctuary city laws, Democrats are reporting strong enthusiasm from small-dollar donors ahead of the midterms, and a rare family of barn owls has captivated New Yorkers near Central Park!

Let’s dive into the good news! 💛
