Happy Wednesday! The Senate has passed a bipartisan war powers resolution requiring Donald Trump to seek congressional authorization for continued military action against Iran, reaffirming Congress’s constitutional role in decisions of war and peace and delivering a significant victory for accountability and checks and balances.

There’s more good news today: the ACLU is launching a major effort to help protect election certification ahead of the midterms, a federal judge dismissed the Trump administration’s lawsuit against Los Angeles over its sanctuary city policies, and California is preparing legal action to defend offshore wind energy development.
