Seattle passes universal school meals, states fight to protect CDL drivers, and more!

Hi friend,

Happy Monday! Seattle is making sure no student has to learn on an empty stomach. Led by Mayor Katie Wilson, the city approved funding to provide free breakfast and lunch to roughly 49,000 public school students starting this school year.

There’s even more encouraging news today: Washington and other states are fighting to protect millions of commercial drivers’ personal data, librarians are preserving women’s and LGBTQ+ history disappearing from national parks, and a Northwest tribe is working to save endangered sea stars after billions have died.

Let’s dive into the good news! 💛
