Judge protects drag shows in Texas, states push back on Trump's mail-in order, and more!

Hi friend,

Happy Thursday! A federal judge has struck down Texas’ law restricting drag shows, ruling that it violated the First Amendment and was so broad that it could potentially punish other forms of expression, including theater and dancing. Judge David Hittner had a simple message for people offended by drag performances: “just don’t go.”

There’s even more encouraging news today: Democrats are leading Republicans in three Texas Latino districts that Donald Trump carried, environmental groups are suing Trump’s EPA over its fast-track approval of toxic chemicals for data centers, and two dozen states plus D.C. are back in court fighting new mail-voting restrictions ahead of the midterms.

Let’s dive into the good news! 💛
