In a stunning upset, Democrat Catelin Drey has flipped a deep-red Iowa state Senate seat — breaking the GOP’s supermajority and proving once again that grassroots energy can overcome Trump’s agenda. This victory ensures Republicans can no longer ram through state appointments without at least one Democrat’s support, giving Iowa voters a stronger check on GOP power.

And in more good news: Susan Collins was drowned out in boos at a public event, a veteran received a sweet birthday gift, and a federal judge blocked the Trump administration’s attempt to deport Kilmar Ábrego García again.
