The Smile: 9/4
Celebrating Gloria Steinem's legacy, California could soon end child marriage, and more.
Hi friend,
A quick note: There will not be an edition of The Smile on Monday. Have a great Labor Day weekend — we’ll be back in your inbox on Tuesday, 9/8.
Happy Friday! Gloria Steinem, one of the most influential voices of American feminism, died Wednesday at her New York City home. She was 92, and her family said she passed away peacefully, surrounded by people who loved her.
Steinem co-founded Ms. magazine in the early 1970s, giving the feminist movement a national platform it had never had before. She spent decades advocating for reproductive freedom, workplace equality, and sex education, becoming one of the most recognizable faces of the women's rights movement.
Let’s dive into the good news! 💛
